Pink Tanzanite is considered one of the rarest color varieties found within the Tanzanite gemstone family. While most people are familiar with Tanzanite’s well-known blue to violet-blue hues, in extremely rare cases the crystal can display delicate pink to purplish pink tones. These unusual colors give Pink Tanzanite a distinctive beauty that has attracted the attention of gemstone collectors and enthusiasts around the world.

Tanzanite itself was first discovered in 1967 in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, and to this day this remains the only known commercial source of the gemstone. Because of this unique geographic origin, Tanzanite is already considered rare compared with many other gemstones that are found in multiple locations around the world.💖💘💝

In nature, most Tanzanite crystals display brownish or violet-blue tones and are commonly heat treated to enhance their blue color. However, Pink Tanzanite occurs far less frequently and represents an uncommon color expression within the mineral zoisite, the mineral species to which Tanzanite belongs. When a gemstone shows a natural pink hue with good transparency and cutting quality, it becomes particularly desirable.

Due to the extremely small proportion of crystals that show pink coloration, gem-quality Pink Tanzanite is rarely seen in the gemstone market. Stones with attractive color, clarity, and larger sizes are especially scarce, making them of particular interest to collectors and fine jewelry designers.
